Two things move a Stittsville quote off those bands, and neither is the postal code. The Poly-B question for 1990s Stittsville homes
Polybutylene, sold as Poly-B, is the grey plastic supply pipe installed in many Canadian homes from the late 1970s to the mid 1990s, which overlaps with Stittsville's first big subdivision wave. It is the same issue Kanata streets of the same age face, and Bytown treats it the same way: the plumber looks for it at the scope visit and, if it is there, the quote shows what it costs to replace the runs feeding the bathroom while the wall is already open. The grey pipe is easy to spot at the water heater or under the vanity, so you can check before anyone visits. Replacing Poly-B beyond the bathroom is a separate whole-house repiping job, so ask for it as its own line if you want it quoted.
Newer Fernbank and Fairwinds homes
A bathroom built after 2010 rarely needs anything structural. People renovate these for style and function: a builder-grade tub nobody uses, replaced by a low-threshold walk-in shower. These are the jobs most likely to finish on the first day of the 1 to 3 day window.

Yes. Richmond, Munster and the rest of what used to be Goulbourn Township have been inside City of Ottawa limits since the same 2001 amalgamation that brought in Stittsville, and the owner confirmed on September 2, 2026 that they are served at the same prices as any other Ottawa address: $13,000 to $15,000 CAD for a tub or shower conversion, from $20,000 CAD for a complete renovation, with no travel line on the quote. Permits for a Richmond or Munster address come from the City of Ottawa, same as Stittsville.
One rural reality to plan for: many homes in Richmond, Munster and along the rural roads between them are on a private well and a septic system rather than City water and sewer. A like-for-like tub or shower swap does not change that. A renovation that adds fixtures or a bathroom can add to the daily flow the septic system was sized for. Septic approvals in Ottawa are not issued by the City: the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority reviews and approves any septic system installed, altered or repaired anywhere in Ottawa under Part 8 of the Ontario Building Code. Its published rule is that renovations to an existing home adding fixture units, adding bedrooms, or increasing the finished floor area by more than 15 percent of the current footprint require an approval. A like-for-like tub or shower swap adds no fixture units, so it does not trigger one. Adding a bathroom does. Ask about it at the scope visit, not after demolition.
The boundary matters, so here it is plainly: Almonte and the rest of Mississippi Mills are outside the City of Ottawa and outside Bytown's service area. If your address is in Mississippi Mills, this page does not apply to you and a contractor based in Lanark County is the right call.
How to check any Stittsville bathroom quote yourself, in four steps
Step 1: Ask whether the price is the same as an Ottawa address
The right answer for Stittsville is yes, with no travel line, because Stittsville is inside city limits. If a quote carries a west-end surcharge, ask what it pays for.
Step 2: Ask which office issues the permit, and whether your scope needs one
The only correct answer is the City of Ottawa. A contractor who knows that will also tell you in writing whether your scope needs a permit at all, and a like-for-like swap usually does not.
Step 3: Ask what happens if demolition finds Poly-B or an empty wall
Especially in a 1990s subdivision home or a village-core house. The answer you want is a written change-order process, with your approval before any extra work starts, and a price for the likely surprise in the quote itself.
Step 4: Ask for the warranty term as a number of years
"Written warranty" means nothing without a number. Bytown's is 5 years on labour and supplied materials. Whatever contractor you talk to, the number belongs in the quote document.

Three limits worth knowing before you call, because they decide whether Bytown is even the right fit for your Stittsville project.
No bathtub reglazing or refinishing. If your tub is structurally sound and the goal is purely cosmetic, reglazing is the cheaper route and Bytown does not sell it. Call a dedicated refinisher instead. Bytown's work starts where the tub or surround is being replaced.
No tub liners or inserts. Bytown does not install a new shell over an old tub, the approach some national franchises advertise, and does not recommend the method. The Bytown route is removal and full replacement.
Layout changes are not a 1 to 3 day job. The guaranteed 1 to 3 day window applies to tub and shower replacement in the existing footprint. If you are moving plumbing to a different wall or turning a powder room into a full bath, that is a longer project with a City of Ottawa permit, and for a full gut renovation involving flooring, cabinetry and layout design, a general contractor is often the better first call.
